As you may have heard, Sun made two announcements with VMware today, furthering our foothold in the virtualization marketplace. The first is an OEM agreement between Sun and VMware that leverages VMware’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure platform with Sun Microsystems’ Sun Ray (TM) Software and virtual display clients. This solution is ideal for customers working remotely, enterprise branch offices, and offshore developers, and according to customers, it also beats the competition in performance and user experience.

The second announcement is a new VMware certification program that enables VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure customers to choose from a wide variety of thin client devices that are officially certified from VMware, including Sun Microsystems’ Sun Ray (Dell, HP and Wyse also join this program, in addition to other thin client providers).

If you’ll recall, we made another OEM agreement with VMware back in February that enabled VMware’s Infrastructure product suite to run on select x64 server and storage systems from Sun. The agreement also benefited systems integrators and channel partners by providing a fully supported, seamlessly integrated solution from these two leading technology providers.

After a decade of experience in the thin client market, Sun is pleased to further its relationship with VMware to bring customers the very best in virtualization solutions.
