Mustang Security Docs Updated

I finally got around to updating the security documentation with all the new features added in Java SE 6 that I have been talking about over the past few months ([1], [2], [3], [4], [5]). Let's go through the list on the security enhancements summary page on java.net.

There are the new NSS configuration directives for the Sun PKCS#11 provider, plus the list of ECC mechanisms it now understands. Both of these features work very nicely with the Elliptic Curve Ciphersuites in SunJSSE. I have also updated the pluggability section in JSSE to note that all restrictions have been removed. Last but not least, we have the JSR 268 JavaDocs. BTW, you can expect some more news about the progress of 268 right here in a few weeks.

These Docs are on java.net now. The same features are also in the code of the quietly released Mustang beta2 (see also this overview), but they did not make the beta2 docs bundle. The updated docs will be in the Java SE 6 RC (and GA) docs with some further documentation improvements. There are a few security features that have not been fully documented yet.

Finally, I wanted to point out that in beta2 Iris and Alan fixed the mapped ByteBuffer bug that was pointed out here a couple of months ago. Alan is hoping to have a more complete solution in Dolphin, but in the meantime this should resolve the problem of running out of address space quite adequately.
