Never a dull moment Well I guess it was just a matter of time before us pointy haired ones got with the blogging 'thang'. Afterall, our main man does lead the charge with his use of blogs as a communication medium.
So here's the first entry....."Dear Blog, wrote first entry" - nah not going to fly. Ok, start with the basics.
I've been here at Sun going on nearly 16 years. I was hired as part of the original System V Release 4 development team (the one that brought you Zeus, the SVr4 Test & Development Platform, now a collectors item!). I escaped from DEC's Ultrix Engineering team in the summer of 1989.
I've been part of every Solaris release (and a couple of SunOS 4 releases) in one role or another ever since. For the past two years, I've had the job of "Director of Engineering for Solaris x86".
Getting with the x86/x64 program is like riding a constant E-ticket attraction. The whole ecosystem is fueled by a stream of never ending processor technology from AMD & Intel. This then flows out to a bagillion IHVs, OEMs, SIs partners and commmunity contributors. One thing's for sure. There's never a dull moment.
As for the personal stuff. Married, one daughter, live just south of Santa Cruz. When not in the office, I can usually be found somewhere in Death Valley National Park, Panamint Valley or the Mojave Desert in my heavily modded Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (www.ubehebe.com)
