It's been an exciting month. First the
BOJUG meet, and then
BOSUG. Actually, there have been 2 very close BOSUG meets this month, one with
Deirdre Straughan, visiting IEC to share her experience as being a popular and successful videoblogger with Sun (which I missed) and now with
Sunay Tripathi, architect of the
Crossbow Project, who also came downhere along with his team to participate in a thrilling discussion on the Crossbow project with around 25 members of BOSUG attending the meet on June 14th. We had a very lively and open discussion about the in's and out's of CrossBow technology, taking inputs about it's improvements from experienced end-users like Sriram Narayanan, a system administrator at ThoughtWorks and Shiv, who has experience working with network-related stuff at Siemens. We discussed how CrossBow can empower a normal system to do things that a 1000$ router can do.
Sunay also called Shantanu to show us a mockup UI for the awesome new web interface under development for making the network admin's job easier working with CrossBow. There is a lot of opportunity in the CrossBow project, in terms of helping out in the web development aspect as well as deep-rooted research of new network protocols using an implementation of the '
Network in a Box' concept.
