About this blog
I am Angad Singh. I have served as the Sun Campus Ambassador of JIIT University, Noida (India) from August 2007 to July 2008 and as a Campus Ambassador Tech Lead from July 2008 to July 2009. This was my sun blog. Here I jotted down all my random scribblings, reports on all activities I conducted as CA at my university, my little projects, hacks, geeky stuff and new technology I came across, all the way to things I learnt in my exciting journey with Sun..

Sun powers the Olympics

The Beijing Olympics 2008 have commenced almost a week back and its high time I talked about an interesting thing Sun has done this time to praise the olympian gods! Apart from being chosen to provide a high-performance eco-efficient technology platform to NBC Universal's web site NBCOlympics.com, Sun has gone out of the way to serve the online spectators of the Olympics with it's very own Facebook game called "myPicks Beijing 2008", built upon Sun's powerful new social widget making platform - Zembly.com. The game allows people to predict winners at the Olympics, choose who they think will even the silver, bronze and gold medals for each event and win points if the predictions are correct. You win points for yourself and also for the country you represent - way cool!

It has a very compelling UI - that makes people want to come back and predict more. You can view the leaderboards of countries, individuals. See how your friends are doing. See how your fellow countrymen are doing.

This game was created on Zembly - the world’s first and easiest Facebook development environment. Zembly is built from the ground up on Sun's industry-leading stack of enterprise hardware and software, including Solaris, Java, Glassfish, and MySQL, and running on Network.com's next-generation cloud-computing platform.

Read more about the app on Zembly's Blog, Press Release or Prakash's blog. In the left bar, choose your country and click on "PLAY NOW" to get started.

Learn more about Zembly from an interview with CTO of zembly.com
