Getting Things Done - Part 1
I don't if you are like me, but sometimes getting things organized is half the battle. Scraps of paper, to do lists, post-its, and so forth seem to be how I manage some days. A good friend of mine uses note cards to this day for his "to do" list -- one item per note card.
I've used many fancy methods for tracking my projects and to do lists over the years. When I worked for Deloitte & Touche we used Lotus Notes. I didn't love it but it worked for me and my department. For many years I used the Palm Desktop and it's built-in To Do functionality.
Then I switch to Linux on my laptop. Didn't really find anything there that matched my style
When I switched over to Apple Mac's a few years ago, I used the Palm Desktop to start with and then moved over to iCal and used it's To Do feature. Wasn't super but it worked and enabled me to get away from the Palm Desktop.
For the past several months I've been using iGTD by Bartek Bargiel.
There was a recent thread on the internal Mac users alias about this type of program. Two other programs that were mentioned: OmniGroup's OmniFocus and Things by Cultured Code.
While both OmniFocus and Things are pre-release software, I thought it was time to do a side-by-side evaluation to see if worth switching. Also there's a limited time window here for pre-release discounts on these two products.
In the next several entries I'll posting my experiences with each of these products and then a quick summary.
