Keep your passports up to date
We are about to travel overseas next week, and yesterday we discovered that the passports of two of our three kids would expire in the middle of the trip.

After some research of how to resolve the problem, we learned that the State Department has an expediting process (for which they charge an extra fee). However, the time limitations did not allow us to do the process through the US Postal Service.

There are agencies that deal with handling the expediting process 'hand-carried' via courier.

Not having much of a choice, we ended spending a significant amount, hopeful that the passports will be back on time.
