Sometimes time flows faster than I can keep up with. Back in April, we did another very succesful NLOSUG event... and I never found the time to blog about that. So, a little late, here's a short impression.
For the second time, we went to a remote location (I mean, outside of the SUN office), which was generously offered to us by AT Computing.
Owner and CEO of AT Computing is Hendrik Jan Thomassen, who litterally brought UNIX to The Netherlands in 1974 by flying to the US and picking up a tape from Ken Thomson and Dennis Ritchie.
This, and a dozen other very interesting stories where shared in the first part of the meeting by Hendrik Jan, in his presentation titled "The History Of Unix" (thanks to our friends from the Dutch Linux Users Group for putting this slides online).
The second part of te evening was filled with a presentation by Adriaan de Groot, VP of KDE e.V. and member of the KDE development team, titled "KDE4 on OpenSolaris".
We had some 25 people in the room and the general feeling I heard during the traditional food-n-snacks afterwards was: an evening well spent.
And this is what we do it for!
