Please someone fix dev.java.net's mail archives!
They need a small easy fix that would make all the difference!
It is well known that a good picture can be worth a thousand words. So sometimes it is real important to be able to attach a UML diagram in an e-mail to illustrate a point quickly. Once one has published an e-mail it is really helpful if one can then reference it with a URL in later posts. Hence the importance of good mail archives. But for this to work well, the mail archives need to maintain the layout of the post. The archives of dev.java.net do not do this. Take for example a recent post of mine to the BlogEd mailing list. The archived version places all the images at the end of the mail as references, instead of inserting html img tags in their correct position. As a result reading the archive one not longer understands the flow of the argument. Now if you click on the "Raw display" tab you will see that the attachements are inside the text. So all the information is there to do the right thing. Why not do it? It is good for the developers, and it is excellent for dev.java.net as their mail archives become suddenly a lot more useful.
If someone knows who to contact in dev.java.net about this issue please let me know.

Note on comments:
- I know the forms below are a little small. We have asked for years for this to be changed, but I don't think it's going to happen soon. In Apple's Safari you can resize the entry box with you mouse. For people using other browsers click on this javascript link, that should allow you to resize your form.
- Comments are moderated, so they will take a little time to appear. Currently moderation means I have to read them personally. Hopefully with OpenId deployment, this will become more automated.
- HTML markup no longer works here, due to some decision made somewhere. Sorry about that.
- If you are having trouble posting, it may be that you need javascript to be enabled. I don't think javascript should be needed for submitting a form, but that's the way it is here.
