Don't panic !
Innovating@Sun
is the name of a great talk show presented by Greg Papadopolous on a quasi monthly basis inside Sun, where he invites various people on the forefront of technology and interviews them on their research, allowing us employees to get an idea of what cool things are going on. Well, Hal Stern my ex boss, who has turned into a real talk radio host, has put together a Innovating@Sun video on UTube entitled Why Operating Systems Matter, featuring Jonathan Schwartz, Greg Papadopolous and Hal.
Given that a growing number of our contributors are going to be people outside of Sun, people working on open source projects, this seems exactly the right thing to do. After all, you can never do things half secretly. It has to be completely secret or not at all. For example with Project Blackbox (listen to Hal's first podcast), a lot of us Sun insiders did not get any news of it at all (this reminds me that someone recently told me a secret, but I just can't remember what it was...).
Sometimes I get the feeling that Sun is turning into a high quality television station. Are we competing with Arté? :-)

Note on comments:
- I know the forms below are a little small. We have asked for years for this to be changed, but I don't think it's going to happen soon. In Apple's Safari you can resize the entry box with you mouse. For people using other browsers click on this javascript link, that should allow you to resize your form.
- Comments are moderated, so they will take a little time to appear. Currently moderation means I have to read them personally. Hopefully with OpenId deployment, this will become more automated.
- HTML markup no longer works here, due to some decision made somewhere. Sorry about that.
- If you are having trouble posting, it may be that you need javascript to be enabled. I don't think javascript should be needed for submitting a form, but that's the way it is here.
