I used to play in a band, but with jobs, families, kids and other interests we found it hard to keep the band together. There's probably close to 10 years since we played a gig. But my old AC30 (a real vintage model from 1963) has found new life:

Traditionally, Trondheim has a lot of wooden buidlings. The old parts of the city is quite pittoresque and during summer there's a lot of tourists strolling through the streets. Our worst nightmare is a blazing fire in these areas. In 1681 the whole city burned down, and half the city burned in 1842. The list is very long. Last friday there was another fire, luckily only one building burnt down.
I took the picture below the day after a whole block burnt down in December 2002.
But, this is seems to be an ongoing process. After the fire in 2002, there was a lot of discussion on how to rebuild the block. Thankfully, it was decided to build modern buildings and not to reconstruct the old buidldings which was built after the fire in 1842. Exactly the same was done in 1842. They did not reconstruct the old buildings, but built according to "modern" architecture and technology as it was in the 1840's. I think the resulting buildings are very nice.

søndag april 23, 2006 The old railroad bridge
There's an old railroad bridge in Trondheim. The kind they open when boats have to pass. It was built in 1918, but is now in the way of a new road-project which will lead traffic around the centre of the city. The bridge was constructed by Joseph B. Strauss which also constructed Golde Gate Bridge in San Fransisico. Now the Directorate for Cultural Heritage in Norway has stopped any plans that would alter the bridge.
Yesterday, during this spring's first kayak tour, we paddeled under the bridge.

fredag februar 17, 2006 Winter may be very nice here.
Some weeks ago it was foggy and temperatures below zero for several days. When the fog cleared I was able to take lot of beautful pictures. Like the one of the television tower. Yes, winter may be very nice here.
