Why would a sysadmin be interested in open source? A couple of reasons:

1. It's likely you'll wind up deploying an open source application soon. By joining an open source community, you can find out what's involved, including how to choose a distribution, how to deal with licensing, and where to get more information.
2. You can ask the developers of open source applications to add features to their software that would make installation and deployment easier for you.
3. You might even want to design or contribute to the design of an open source system administration application
