Update: Information and video on the Free Air Cooling PoC with Belgacom are here.

Yesterday I gave a talk at the Lan News datacenter seminar on "Hot spots to Coolthreads". The presentation files are on mediacast to download.

Please also note if you are interested in these Coolthreads systems that Sun Belgium is launching a very interesting campaign for these systems, that includes -  under terms - Sun paying your electricity for those systems for a year ! Further details here.

We also showed a few copies of the very interesting Sun blueprint on "Modularity in datacenter design". To save a few trees you can download your copy of this 58 pages document here.

Please explore other blueprints and content on wikis.sun.com, mediacast.sun.com and slx.sun.com.  They not only have a ton of useful information, but also show how Sun is about building communities these days.

h and if you were impressed, go to www.openoffice.org  to download your copy...

There was a talk yesterday in Second Life with Author Darryl Gove. Interesting info for people considering programming parallel threads. Slides and transcripts in his blog.

Today it was officially announced that I transfer to the systems practice @ Sun Belgium. As a solution architect I will focus on the Coolthreads servers (CMT) and Web 2.0. I am also part of the competence center for volume servers, so I act as backup for Peter De Clerck for x64, HPC and blade systems.

So expect to see a lot of entries here about how good we are in the webspace with MySQL and the multi-threaded, multi-core environment we offer with CMT servers !
