Quiz 1: Data Center or Shipping Container
How better to stress that we are using standard shipping containers than to make a two part quiz: Data Center or Shipping Container? If you have been following this blog, you will easily get Quiz 1, but I have a twist coming up for Quiz 2 (hopefully next Friday)...a true iPod moment.
Container A

Container B

The Quiz: Which of the above containers (A or B) is a modular data center?
The Answer: Container B is the modular data center
How could I tell?: Well, this one was relatively simple:
- If you look at Container B in the lower left, there are power cords coming in and out of it. There are a lot of questions about "How Much Power Do You Need?"...answer, around 200 kW to power a fully loaded unit.
- There are no power cords going to Container A, nor a generator nearby...your computers still need power and the generator is not in the container for this release!
- If you peek into Container A, there are clothes and stuff for folks packed into it.
- Container B should not have clothes packed into the corners, though if you look below, you will see that Russ keeps a broom and dustpan pushed into a corner. Russ is a clean sort of guy and is tired of sweeping out one of our containers after all of the people wander through so please wipe your shoes before you go in.
- Of course, the final clue is that Container B has a big Sun Logo down the side of it!

Alright, its Friday and I was in class most of the week so you can tell I'm a bit distracted. Chris has been awesome this week picking up my slack with posts from the road. This leg of the tour is producing some great stories in the press, I believe the article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press runs this Sunday in the Business Section.
Here are a couple of links for you that occurred this week, I'll keep mining for more!
- A short blurb in the Des Moines Register about the Project Blackbox Tour's arrival as well as an entry as an "event"
- Project Blackbox Post from the Sean McKay at ConnectFive/////
