Quiz 1: Data Center or Shipping Container

How better to stress that we are using standard shipping containers than to make a two part quiz: Data Center or Shipping Container? If you have been following this blog, you will easily get Quiz 1, but I have a twist coming up for Quiz 2 (hopefully next Friday)...a true iPod moment.

The Quiz: Which of the above containers (A or B) is a modular data center?

The Answer: Container B is the modular data center

How could I tell?: Well, this one was relatively simple:

If you look at Container B in the lower left, there are power cords coming in and out of it. There are a lot of questions about "How Much Power Do You Need?"...answer, around 200 kW to power a fully loaded unit.
There are no power cords going to Container A, nor a generator nearby...your computers still need power and the generator is not in the container for this release!
If you peek into Container A, there are clothes and stuff for folks packed into it.
Container B should not have clothes packed into the corners, though if you look below, you will see that Russ keeps a broom and dustpan pushed into a corner. Russ is a clean sort of guy and is tired of sweeping out one of our containers after all of the people wander through so please wipe your shoes before you go in.
Of course, the final clue is that Container B has a big Sun Logo down the side of it!

Alright, its Friday and I was in class most of the week so you can tell I'm a bit distracted. Chris has been awesome this week picking up my slack with posts from the road. This leg of the tour is producing some great stories in the press, I believe the article in the St. Paul Pioneer Press runs this Sunday in the Business Section.
