Would IBM "Dare To Compare" blade offerings more accurately? #2
"Dare to Compare" blade offerings Part 2 - the follow on to IBM's published competitive analysis of its BladeCenter offerings versus blade products from HP, Dell, and Sun. We'd like to again make things clearer for another claim where IBM is wrong about Sun Blades. We will share a few more of these IBM 'misrepresented truths' over the next few days ... so stay tuned.
IBM FUD: Sun Blade uses PCI-X in the chassis
Sun Truth:
The Sun Blade architecture is
based on industry standard PCI-Express (not PCI-X) for both the
chassis
midplane and
blade servers; and is forward compliant with PCI 2.0 and IOV
standards. In contrast IBM's HS21 blades utilize a single PCI-X bus
with a bridge to PCI-E, and proprietary I/O fabric interconnects in
the blade chassis.

Why not have the comparison on an even playing field, where analysts and end-users can judge in person?
IBM, HP, DELL, EGENERA, SUPER MICRO and INTEL are all supporting participants at the BLADE SYSTEMS INSIGHT Summit----SUN should be there and should answer the "call to participate" that has come primarily from the end-users who are going to be in attendance.
This would be the best method of "true" industry comparision in an unbiased setting.
