Congratulations, Bugtraq is back.

Thursday Nov 09, 2006

A friend of mine here is responsible for one of our internal tools, Bugtraq. The front end to the tool is a gui called Bugster, and there are various other interfaces, including one on OpenSolaris.org.

The thing is, that what with all the cut backs and all, a lot more things break more often than they used to, and it often takes longer to get them fixed. For some reason, some of the essential features of Bugtraq stopped working and he was responsible for getting it back up and running. (He didn't fix it himself, he manages the team that does it).

Anyway, it was down for some time, involving many, many concalls and such. People started blogging internally about the outage, which started an avalanche of complaints about the general problems with the infrastructure. Most people realize that this is an outgrowth of our attempts to get back to profitability and are pretty understanding, all told.

Well, anyway, Bugtraq is now fixed. My friend complained to me that nobody blogs when things are fixed, only when they break. So, here you go Thom, this one is for you!
