I have been working lately with Java Realtime for a JavaOne project and I am really impressed with the extensions it provides Java. RealtimeThreads and some of the Clock features would sure help with some of the complicated parts of JXTA JXSE!
I've done most of my work using the 2.0 Solaris version but the new 2.1 version is expected soon. In addition to a new thread visualization tool, new DTrace scripts and other improvements the big news for the 2.1 release is that Java RTS now supports Linux. Two realtime Linux distributions have been qualified so far and more can probably be expected.

A few weeks ago I saw a pointer to the new org.jdesktop.swingx.JavaBean class. Hallelujah! I've been wondering for years why there isn't a Bean interface in the java.beans package. Lack of a base interface for Java Beans often makes working with Beans painful. It would be nice to use PropertyChangeSupport as a base class for Bean implementations but bizarrely it may only be used conveniently though composition, because the only PropertyChangeSupport constructor takes what would normally be this pointer for the Bean class.
It would sure be nice to have this JavaBean class as part of the java.beans package and split into two pieces, an interface and an abstract class. One step at a time, I guess, though.
