After spending the week in Menlo Park, it was time for me to head back home to Dallas for the weekend. Everything was going well until I got that dreaded announcement at the airport that my flight was canceled. So immediately I and everyone else on that flight called into the airline to reschedule for a later flight. Well due to several days of bad weather in Dallas I was not going to be able to get home until Sunday at noon. Big Bummer! Missed my daughter's soccer game. On Saturday, I was still Bumming out. So after breakfast I decided to change that and take off and go do something fun. I picked up a cheap pair of sun glasses - the only cheep ones I could find were kids size - oh well - got them anyway. They worked for the most part. There were some blind spots on the peripheral. Now I know what horses see with blinders on. Off I go to Monterey to eat lunch at the SandBar Grill at fisherman's wharf. I had a great Crab Club sandwich. Enough of Monterey, I headed to Carmel. I didn't stay long there as it was to busy and crowded. How about going on down to check out Big Sur. My wife has frequently gone on a girls only trip to walk the Big Sur Marathon. So what's all the hype about Route 1 and Big Sur. WOW! Now I know. Talk about an ocean view. Route 1 has one. Not only is there a view. Driving with blinders on made the curves and huge cliff drop offs a little nerve racking at times, especially going South as you are on the edge side. Needless to say I not only had to stop and enjoy the views, but to relax and loosen some of the anxiety of the drive. It would have been better if I wasn't trying to drive and look at the same time. I would highly recommend taking the drive if ever stuck in San Francisco. All in all it was about 300 miles round trip and a good day trip for the speedy.
