More About Binding Attributes

Hi again,

I've received several emails about why on-demand attribute binding was introduced into NetBeans Visual Web JSF functionality. Here are a couple of reasons:

  • JSP files are more streamlines, featuring binding data only for components that are to be scripted using Java.
  • The same goes for Java classes. No more superfluous getter and setter methods for components not needing them.
  • The user now has more control over components than ever before.
These three reasons are good ones, but there are certainly more.

These changes, though small, are enough to affect lots of Visual Web JSF documentation, so you'll likely run into problems if you try to do 6.0 tutorials using NetBeans 6.1. I am updating these tutorials as I write this, and by the time 6.1 rolls out the door, there should be a good number of tutorials available.

See you tomorrow.
