MySQL: It's Official

Hi all,
I remember when I was five years old, and my mother came home from the hospital with my baby brother. Nobody slept for about six weeks, and as the little thing began to grow, we realized how helpless he was. He depended on us to survive.
I remembered this moment when Sun brought MySQL home. Except, instead of a wrinkled, helpless, crying, poop-machine that my brother was (he has since stopped crying), we got a new sibling who could do lots of stuff, and made the family a lot stronger in the process. Kind of makes one proud, doesn't it?
I've spent the past week and a half playing around with MySQL, and I have to say that I like having it around. Of course, I liked having my baby brother around too, but you can't drop a database on its head and watch it do silly stuff.
There are a lot of people out there who see MySQL as a threat to Java DB (the same way my father saw our neighbor Bob as a threat). Sure, they are both databases, but used a little differently (think embedded). Appearances can be deceiving. (For example, my brother is the spitting image of our neighbor who used to come around when my dad was at work.) There is plenty of room in the Sun family for MySQL and Java DB. Try it our for yourself, go to http://www.sun.com/mysql/download.
See you tommorrow!
