NetBeans Release Notes: An Important Read Indeed
Hi all,
Each time a version of NetBeans is released, the Release Notes are updated to reflect changes in that particular release. For many of you, Release Notes fall into the same category as instructions for using a product you buy: you never read them. However, the NetBeans Release Notes contain valuable information for using NetBeans. Here is a list:
- Supported Technologies. Here you can find things like versions of Enterprise JavaBeans, JavaServer Faces, etc. It's all there for you perusing, and it will certainly answer some questions you might have. You can even find a list of application servers that have been tested with that version of the IDE.
- System Requirements. Here you'll find all the information you need that is related to hardware configuration. Is your RAM sufficient? What processor should your computer have? Which operating systems work with the IDE?
- Required Software. Which version of Java is required? This can vary according to operating system. For example, Mac OS X uses a different version than Windows or Solaris. Find out which one works with your operating system.
- SQL and Database Information. Find out which database are supported by the NetBeans IDE and which database drivers are bundled. You can also get the correct URL format for the database connection.
- Known Issue and Workarounds. Here you'll see all issues affecting the IDE, conveniently broken down by pack or functionality. More importantly, you'll find ways to get around these issues. This is a very important section of the Release Notes; it's where problems are solved.
Think about it.
