Seven Things NetBeans Won't Do

Hi all,

Since writing about all the things NetBeans IDE can do would take up too much valuable blog space, I thought it might be interesting to write about the few things NetBeans can't do. I managed to come up with ten. Here they are:

  1. NetBeans cannot cure a hangover. However, it can help you forget about the lingering effects of last night's party. Just open a tutorial and get started. I bet that in no time you'll feel a whole lot better (and have a brand new app in the process).
  2. NetBeans will not do your household chores. However, it does give you a good reason not to do them. Leave the dishes in the sink, create a new web app instead. It makes perfect sense to me. Why soak your hands in Palmolive dish detergent when you could be soaking in the latest Java/C/C++/PHP/JavaScript/Python/HTML technology.
  3. NetBeans will not save your marriage. However, it might save your job. So, what are you waiting for? Build that app! Get that promotion! Pay for that divorce!
  4. NetBeans will not make you want to call your parents more often. However, I think that NetBeans is developing a plug-in for this. Just a rumor though.
  5. NetBeans cannot improve your love life. But why look at faces on internet dating websites when you can look at JavaServer Faces components instead? And it's free! No more expensive dates! No risk of disease whatsoever!
  6. NetBeans does not solve world conflicts. However, it does come pretty close. When NetBeans is mentioned, the whole world stops, listens, and looks (just watch out for low-flying pigeons while you're listening and looking). And for a short moment, the world is in a harmonious state (except in Redmond, Washington).
  7. NetBeans will not marry you (no matter how hard you beg). NetBeans IDE is available to everyone and refuses to be bogged down in a monogamous relationship with one user. Get over it!

Cheers!

Netbeans won't do perl :(. That's the only thing I need to make of Netbeans my IDE-to-rule-them-all.

Sorry James but your Number 7 is wrong. We have been happily married now for 4 whole years (seems like yesterday!) I know she cheats on me with a bunch of others, but when she starts up next morning with fresh baby EJB tutorials and other gifts (does she have many!), it is all behind us and all is forgiven.
