Semester 2
Hi and welcome back to university,
Firstly, some good news. Although my period as Sun Campus Ambassador ended, it has now been extended for another year. I have thought quite a bit about what events I will run this semester, and I am very excited about what I have planned. My first talk will be Java for Python Programmers, as there are a number of students who have learnt python, but are now expected to pick up Java for a second semester course. I will run as many events as the students require.
While my I have not finalized my other events yet, I will tell you my plans so that you get a chance to give me some feedback. My highlight of the semester will be a games workshop (I am currently thinking of making it a whole day thing on a Friday). My options are to either cover mobile games or massively multi-player online games. I will also have one or two talks on Solaris, focusing on high performance computing. I am also planning a talk on Sun Studio, an application for developing high performance C++ applications.
