Sun Tech Days
For the first time ever, Sydney was included in the Sun Technology Days World Tour! For absolutely no charge you get:
- 3 whole days of talks and hands-on labs covering every major technology. Topics included enterprise, desktop, solaris, web 2.0, Java Development and Deployment, Netbeans, Mobility and Glassfish.
- One day dedicated specifically to university students.
- Free food and drink - morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea with a reception on the first night. And pretty good stuff too!
- Several competitions including a chance to win a Wii. Unfortunently, I wasn't allowed to as I work for Sun.
- Lots of freebies:
I was involved in two talks. For the first I showed the simple bouncing ball demo for Kevin Mayo's talk about Sun Spot. The second was a collaboration with Virang, the UTS campus ambassador. We first talked about the campus ambassador program and then showed how the Netbeans GUI builder could make fancy applications surprisingly easily.
