Have something interesting to say, well, I'm still working on that one.

One of the guidelines to having a Sun blog is to be interesting; I worry about this.  What could I possibly have to say that other people would find interesting?  There must be something, it's not like people run screaming when I walk into a cocktail party.  Now how do I manage that in a professional blog?

A tech-geek, I am not.  I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, which I finally earned at the age of 28.  I made a wild leap three years ago and left my 12 year career as a veterinary technician to go to work for Sun Microsystems. Needless to say, I managed to cultivate many skills outside of nursing over the years. Even so, I'm still amazed at how similar the jobs are.  I used to spend a third of my time on patient care, a third on customer communication, and another third making sure the doctors had the correct staff and equipment for the day's surgeries.  As a Customer Service Manager, I do a lot of the same thing, customer communication and resource management.  When I start to miss the hands on nursing, I pet my cats, I currently have eight. (Really seven, one is just staying here until I manage to ship him off to Australia.)

So in this company full of brilliant intellectuals and computer geniuses (seriously folks, James Gosling and Andy Bechtolsheim work here), what can a cat-loving, hockey-playing, Washington Capitals-cheering, flower-gardening CSM have to say that is interesting.  We'll just have to see.
