Anti-telemarketing!

This
anti-telemarketing script could help you counter the tele-marketeers.
While I am yet to get a single telemarketing call in the US, in Bangalore this was a menace - There used to be two types of callers: one mainly from XXX-Bank and allies who would ask for me by name (asking for loan or a credit card), and others randomly calling Sun extensions one after the other. The XXX-Bank, which gave free Credit Cards to corporate employees, used to have a finely printed clause in their agreement that said they were free to make use of my personal information for "special offers" aka telemarketing. Thanks to a sharp eyed fellow Sun engineer who spotted it and threatened to escalate the matter unless they removed that clause. The bank finally sent out a letter to all customers asking them to send a signed reply that they are not interested in "special offers" via phone or mail.
Many people had developed their own ways to tackle the issue, some times pretending it to be wrong number, or just asking them to send a rep, who would perhaps just knock outside a wrong address!
