Now I realize that many people are interested in Dukelele.
I found even non japanese speakers mentioned regarding this objects on their blogs.

For English speakers, I try to tell a bit about this.
Initially, Kazama-san, a famous Java developer in Japan, requested us to create this object for a present in a Java Conference in Tokyo in March. And he showed a PhotoShopped image:

The base of this is a normal black ukulele with red hall at the center. Kazama-san put white color on the bottom half so that it looks like Duke. At that time, it was just a joke.
But Hideya Kawahara, the creator of Project Looking Glass, was so excited about this idea and he push me to develop the dukelele.
So I started to work with the branding team in Sun Japan for this. Currently the team think that it is probably possible to develop this "Dukelele" by the Java event in March and to put it for sales in the shop in the event .
Also, in my personal opinion, we should accept orders for additional Dukeleles at that shop after the Dukelele is sold out.
Of course, we can't promise anything at this moment but you will see what would happen to Dukelele in a month.

昨日より登録がはじまった、JC2005 だが、登録者数の伸びがすごい。初日は想定の二倍の申し込みがあった。 二日目の今日は勢いが衰えるどころか、初日以上(二日目の事前予測は、初日より低い)の申し込みだ。 JTC2004 をはるかに超えるペースなので、このままだと最終的な人数がどのくらいになるか検討もつかない。 うれしいやら、予備スペースの確保で心配になるやら。うれしい悲鳴とはまさにこのことか。 やはり無料のイベントというのが効いたのだろうか。秋のイベントは有料を想定しているだけに、 参加者が料金に対してどういう感覚をもっているかは是非知りたいものだ。

ところで、10周年を祝うからには記念的な要素を当然盛り込むつもりである。特に Java 黎明期から活躍してきたような方にスポットライトをあてるような企画を今、主要スポンサーとはじめようとしている。 10年は、長いようだが、短くもある。10年前、一線で活躍されていた方が、まだ当時と同様の勢いで活躍されているケースが多い。 もちろん、会社が変わったり、ポジションが変わったりされている方も多いし、新星も現れているのだが、キーパーソンの名前は 半分くらいは同じではないだろうか。今度の JC2005 Spring では、その半分の方を招待し、10年の軌跡と今後の展望について自由に語っていただこうかと思っている。もちろん、それ以外にもお祭り的要素は忘れずに盛り込むつもりだ。
