Virtualization
I was in mumbai yesterday and day before, talking about the most loved and hated term these days, 'virtualization', and my teams s/w solutions that help manage different kinds of virtualization.
The first management action, probably everyone needs to take is make the text editor understand the word 'virtualization' so that it doesn't throw a spelling error.
| I had two embarrassing moments there. First, I was booked as Ms Amol Chiplunkar and I spent 10 long nervous minutes wondering if I would need a gender change in order to get an accommodation tonight ! Second, I had to talk in the presence of Joost Pronk, on the topic of solaris containers. And my slide deck had a lot of slides picked up from his presentations ! |
. Besides talking about the products Sun MC, Container Manager, N1 SPS and N1 SM, I discussed 'why virtualization' at length. The discussion was centered around improving utilization levels of the servers in the datacenter. But I am wondering, is that the main issue virtualization addresses, or there are more ? Thoughts, comments, anyone ? Also how many of you think OS virtualization solutions like Containers are cool enough to solve your issues ?
