New German phrase Flying on Tyrolean from Vienna to Prague I heard some German that would make my old tutor shudder. Rather than using a German phrase, the stewardess simply said 'herzlich willkommen bei Ihrem Austrian Air operated by Tyorlean Airways Flug nach Prag'! What would the correct German be? 'von Tyrolean Airways geoperateden?' :) ( Mar 13 2006, 07:50:48 PM GST ) Permalink Comments [2]

No direct translation, you'll have to go the extra mile and say "Herzlich willkommen zu ihrem Flug mit Tyrolean Airways, einem Unternehmen der AUA", or "... TAirways, einer Tochter der AUA" to preserve the meaning.

I disagree. This is about operating this flight and need not imply a particular relationship between the airlines. Correct German translation would be:

"Herzlich willkommen zu Ihrem Austrian Air Flug, durchgeführt von Tyrolean Airways."
