Mixing work and play
If you are a soccer fan, then here are 2 ways that you can mix your work and play viz. keep youself updated with the latest World cup scores and news while pretending to work:
- Google has this wonderful plugin, which I've just discovered last night, that allows you to keep track of scores, news and blogs of your favourite team. You can get it here.
- I've written a Netbeans plugin that which pulls RSS feed from the official world cup website. You can get the NBM and source here.

Second try - NetBeans module for StarOffice/OpenOffice
Second try!
My first ever source release of a NetBeans module had some bugs in it. Althought I've tested my SO4NB (that's StarOffice for NetBeans, pronounce as SNOB), I did *ALL* my test on a Solaris/Linux machine. Silly me. Ofcourse there was this other minority OS call Windows. Anyway Geertjan was good enough to volunteered his machine. He found some major problems. He also gave me a some feedbacks which I have incooporated into the module. Robert Thornton also help with some bug fixes. Thanks guys. Here is the second release of the source code and NBM for SO4NB. I welcome your bug reports (and fixes) and feedback.

StarOffice for NetBeans Module
My first NetBeans module allows you to open and create StarOffice/OpenOffice documents from within NetBeans.
Hello World
My first blog. Hello world I guess
A bit about myself. I'm a Sun employee based in Singapore. Have been working with Sun since since 1996. I work mainly with developers in the APAC region.
Okay, Sun's internal blog posting policy says I should write about something interesting, so here are 3 interesting things happening right now
- I have a hands-on-lab session at JavaOne (next week) call "LAB-5205 Developing JFC/Swing Applications Using the NetBeans™ 4 IDE". The lab is 120 mins. My collegue Bernard Ng and I worked on the lab. Its on Tue Jun 28 in Hall E 130/131. Come and join the lab if you have the time.
- I've been working on a Java game for the past 9 months. The game is based on Game Workshop's out of print boardgame call Space Hulk. I've always wanted to have an interesting project going on in the background. With this game, I've finally found the right project with the correct challenge to keep me interesed. I'll blog more (count on it
) on this later. - My Aikido grading is coming up in 3 weeks time. I hope I'm not going to miss it. I have to skip my last grading because of work commitments. Both my 6 and 8 year old sons are now ranked higher than me. BTW, just in case you are wondering, I'm a white belt which is right at the bottom.
