From Monday evening until this morning I have been in Zurich, due to visit the Java developer conference Jazoon 2009 for Sun Microsystems, which has been hold at Arena Filmcity - Zurich Sihlcity. I was searching for new topics, that could be interesting for my job and I found a lot of new stuff and friends.

Me at Jazoon 2009 entrace
On Monday I had a train trip from Moenchengladbach to Zurich. On the next day there was the first day of Jazoon 2009. At the entrace I got my batch and a couple of other cool stuff from Jazoon. The first talk was a keynode for all Jazoon visitors from James Gosling (I guess everybody of you knows who he is - or better: You should do so!) and the organizator Christian Frei. The keynode was about what Java was in the past and what it is in the present. All over the day I visit a few other pretty interesting talks about several other topics (JEE, Spring, RIA, Testing, etc.). This first very cool day ended with a little trip to the oldcity of Zurich.
The second day began with a keynode from Danny Coward (also Sun Microsystems), who talked about new features in Suns JDK 7, which is coming soon. Later on that day I visited some more interesting talks on Web Services, AJAX, Domain Driven Design, Metro, JavaFX, etc.). After the regulary talkes there was a little contenst so called 'Jazoon Rookies', where young speakers can speak to the audience and win a prize. In the final round there has been only three speakers left (also Deni Lukmanul Hakim from Sun Microsystems). After the Rookies there was a party at the conference with nice music, lot of drinks and many very nice people. I took the time to talk to some other employees from Sun Microsystems and also from other companies.)
At the third and last day I visited some more talks about Android development, JavaFX, Agile software and the OpenJDK and what the new version of it will bring us. The closing keynode after all these talks has been held by Linda Cureton, CIO at NASA. After that talk three pretty nice days in Zurich ended for me and I rote back to Moenchengladbach, by train.
On all these days I also met one Ex-Campus Ambassador and now Sun speaker (Jose Maria Silveira Neto), whos has also held a talk about JavaFX at Jazoon 2009.
Jose and me at Jazoon 2009
Thanks to Brigitte Aeschlimann, who made this possible to me (sent me the ticket for Jazoon 2009!). I really hope to visit Jazoon in 2010 again. Thanks also to all the other Sunnies I met in Zurich.
