On Thin Ice : tales of a tax man armed with Ice Axes

Thursday Nov 22, 2007

Just finished reading On Thin Ice by Mick Fowler. If you don't get excited by the thought of climbing vertical ice, its still a worthwhile read as a travel book where there happens to be scary climbing going on and a few things that go wrong, some funny, one very much not.

In the mid 90's I meet Mick a few times, once when I arranged for him to give a lecture at the University in Aberystwyth. Just a really easy guy to get on with and arrange the lecture. The lecture was, of course, inspiring.

Google suggests he is doing a few lectures at the moment such as in Bristol.
