Check it out - a video story about the making of OpenSolaris. Called Open Minds. Mary Mary aptly titled her pointer to this mini "making of" video clip "6 minutes, 24 seconds".
Since I lived, ate and breathed the OpenSolaris project for about 18 months before we launched on Opening Day, I think we could have populated a 60 minute documentary, but then again I have a thing for documentaries. The idea for Open Minds crystallized when Laura Ramsey and I ran into each other in Menlo Park back in May and sat down for a few minutes to chat in the California sun. We thought it might be interesting to get a bunch of the OpenSolaris team members to talk about why we open sourced the operating system and why we care so passionately about the project. Here it is... Enjoy! Thanks to Sara for making it happen. And if you like the story, please pass it around...
