Albert, sorry to say PalBee is just another Linux title, and OpenSolaris/Solaris is not Linux. Using Alsa sound for example alienates us Solaris users, there's no way we can or will adopt a non-native option. While I wish that companies would realize that there are other systems besides Windows/Mac/Linux the conclusion is that only good-quality less restrictive open-source software (BSD/MIT/LGPL) can be successful for us Sun users. Get your marketing team to work with Sun, get a port out. We lack Skype, Gizmo, PalBee, VMware Workstation to name a few closed applications, so porting PalBee in a quality way would definitely hit home to us, we are in desparation for an option that doesn't require a pre-built SIP infrastructure to do what existing free (As in beer) softphone software does. Annoying is an understatement.

I always try to leave a comment. Sometimes I might go to a blog and it's all advertising and a product I'm not interested in, so I don't say anything, but otherwise I try to leave a comment. Not like some dedicated video conference equipments, the hardware equipments we used are very simple, just a laptop + a webcams + a projector. All are low cost commodity devices. In Beijing conference room, we use a Lenovo laptop running Solaris Express (build 76) and a Logitech USB webcam. US staff were using the similar equipments.

I’ve heard about Courts using video conferencing technologies especially in the rural areas and villages. Even though it’s an expensive approach but it’s a great way for developing these areas.

Since my management installed video conferencing equipment in our company’s board room, it becomes very lively when sitting in board meetings and client meetings. Before getting the system installed every meeting was like just preparing for outdoor meetings but now it is changed.
