Looking Back/Looking Ahead: The Start of a Conversation
Today we are going to start a new experiment. My colleague - Sun's Corporate Sustainability Program Manager, Lori Duvall - and I are going to engage in a cross-blog dialog. A "diablog" if you will. The idea behind this diablog is to help us during these uncertain times to keep looking forward, even as our temptation is to only look back on all that we have done at Sun over the past three-plus years. We are modeling our exchange off of the TV Club blog at Slate.com (this season's Mad Men TV Club was a highlight of my Monday morning routine, and the old Soprano's TV Club, of which NBC News anchor Brian Williams was a member, was a rollicking good time). The main difference (besides, of course, the fact that we'll be talking about decidedly different topics) is that we will be having an intra-blog discussion, each of us posting our questions and answers to our own site. We may find that other Sun folks want to participate in our discussion. If so, we'll be sure to post links to their blogs, too, so you won't miss any part of our ongoing conversation. And feel free to join in yourself - we have a lot more to learn by engaging outside our company than we do by just talking to each other (which we have been doing for the past 3+ years anyway!).
I offered to kick this experiment off with my burning question:
"As you look back on all the things our team has attempted over the past three years, what did we accomplish that you NEVER thought we'd be able to do? What did you think would be easy to do and we just haven't mastered it yet?"
Go to Lori's blog for the answer (and I'll re-post it here, too).
