"Replacing FrameMaker with OOo Writer"
My colleague Joost Andrae pointed me to the following article which is pretty cool:
"I began comparing FrameMaker and Writer when a regular on the OpenOffice.org User's list asked what it would take to give Writer the power of FrameMaker. When I started, I mentally pictured a scale with Microsoft Word on one end and FrameMaker on another, with Writer in the middle, but closer to Microsoft Word. As I proceeded, I found Writer was a much stronger contender than I had expected. At the end of the comparison, I had to conclude that the two products compare quite closely, depending on what features are more important to a given user."

Considering that OpenOffice.org is free people get a great value, and for just $39.95 people can even get a more professional flavor of OpenOffice.org with clipart graphics and dictionaries included.

Oops, wrong category ...
I just realized that I posted my last note under a different category than I originally in mind. However, the category "Salsa" also makes sense and therefore I will just leave it as it is.
Stephi and I got together when we went Salsa dancing at a place in Frankfurt called Brotfabrik (large/idustrial bakery. It's a pretty cool place!

Just married!
Some people might have thought that I abandoned my blog. The real reason why I have been so quiet is that I was involved in the planning of two major events: my wedding and the OpenOffice.org Conference.
Looking at myself in the mirror and seeing me wearing a golden wedding ring makes me feel a bit old and mature. Before, I still felt adolescent and juvenile even though I'm already past 30. Now I'm a grown-up. Now life becomes serious. Now I'm playing in a different league.
However, I have to say that being married feels great! I don't know how quickly it will wear off (I hope it never does), but I love my beautiful wife even more than I did before. Life is more colorful, more exciting, more adventurous, more fascinating, more thrilling, more sizzling, more everything. I definitely can recommend getting married!
