Just switch! - Why counting words is easier in StarOffice 8
The new release of the StarOffice software which is due this summer introduces many new features that make it simple to switch to this powerful office suite. My "Just switch!" blog series will shed some light on the new functionality and highlight all the cool stuff.

Older versions of the StarOffice software already had a word count feature, but it was a bit limited and hidden. The dialog that included the document statistics was (and still is) accessible via "File - Properties ..." from the menu bar:

As the screenshot shows it was impossible to count the words of a selected piece of text. Only the total number of words was listed. StarOffice 8 introduces a separate word count tool that eliminates this problem. The new tool is listed under "Tools - Word Count" and looks as shown in the following screenshot:
