Just switch! - Sharing StarOffice presentations via Flash
If you always wondered how you can share StarOffice presentations with people who are not using StarOffice yet, the feature I want to talk about today might be the solution.

The feature is actually not new. It got introduced with version 7 of the StarOffice software. The feature I'm talking about is the Macromedia Flash export. This is the presentation I want to export:

First, I have to invoke "File - Export ...":

Next, I have to select the Flash file format:

After a few seconds I have a Flash file, which I can open in any browser that has a Flash plug-in.

If I have to do a presentation at an event, I always have a Flash version of my presentation on a memory stick with me (in addition to the source file in the format). Thus, if my laptop breaks, I'm still able to do my presentation from any other machine that can display Flash files.

More XForms Tools
"Two other XML technologies being introduced are to be based on the Eclipse open source tools platform. The Compound XML Document Editor helps developers build and manage Web applications and XML documents that back XML standards such as XHTML, XForms, XML-Events, SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language), XUL (XML User Interface Language), SVG, VoiceXML, and MathML. Developers can build Web applications that include voice, graphics, mathematical computations, data entry forms and other content on a single page without needing extensive hand coding.

The XML Forms Generator, meanwhile, helps developers build XML formats that can tie into business processes using Web services and JavaServer Pages response templates. Forms generated adhere to XHTML and XForms 1.0."
