"Bristol ready to put open source on 3,500 desktops"
"Last week, Birmingham City Council announced a 1,500-seat pilot of an open source desktop - including a Linux operating system and open source application. Although Bristol Council will keep its Windows environments, both councils are part of the Open Source Academy, funded by £1.3m from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister."
