The best OOoCon so far!!!
Thanks a lot, Urska, Davide, and Robert for organizing this year's OpenOffice.org Conference!!! I personally think it has been the best OpenOffice.org Conference so far! Yes, like with the previous conferences there are always things that could be done better in the next year, but I think this year's OOoCon was a great success.

As you can read in my blog, we made it onto Slashdot and ZDNet, I met many community members for the first time, and I had a great time. Here are some more pictures to let you participate in the experience:

Here is a picture of the majority of the crowd (notice Zaheda Bhorat from Google on the left who is running to get into the picture of her camera):

John McCreesh (OpenOffice.org Marketing Project Co-Lead), Zaheda Bhorat (Google), and Matthias Hütsch (OpenOffice.org/StarOffice Engineering) sitting on the veranda of the most popular cafe:

Exchanging T-Shirts
No, Simon Phipps (OpenSolaris Community Advisory Board member) and I did not exchange t-shirts, but why not bring different open source communities closer together:

"Linux on Lenovo consumer PCs?"
"The China-based giant has already taken the first step in that direction by deciding to bundle StarOffice 8, the open-source software suite which competes with Microsoft Office, in Lenovo's latest ThinkPad R51e notebook PC. StarOffice 8 is from Sun Microsystems Inc and includes a spreadsheet, word processor, database and presentation manager, and allows users to import and export Microsoft Office files and to use Office macros to automate specific tasks.

'StarOffice 8 will help small businesses and consumers to have a cost-effective desktop productivity solution with all the functionality they need,' Mr Lau said. 'This step is in line with our mission to provide our customers with smarter ways to stay productive and competitive.'"

As you can see here, the first release candidate of OpenOffice.org 2.0 just has been released. Congratulations to all who made this happen! Now it should not take much longer until OpenOffice.org 2.0 gets released.
