Microsoft's Alan Yates about ODF Provided the press is quoting Microsoft's Alan Yates correctly, he is distorting facts. wired.com writes:
"The ODF format is limited to the features of OpenOffice and StarOffice," says Yates in reference to two popular open-source office suites, "and would not satisfy most of our Microsoft Office customers today."
ODF 1.0 includes input from Corel and KOffice. In addition, ODF 1.1 includes input from IBM and Adobe. Thus, ODF is not just covering the feature set of OpenOffice.org or StarOffice, but instead, any vendor can get their features added if they participate in the open and transparent standardization process at OASIS.
BTW, in this context, you might find Rob Weir's latest blog entry interesting and useful.
