"What are the top open source desktop applications that you know of, including your own? What's missing?

White: I think the 'must have' list is Firefox, Evolution or Thunderbird, OpenOffice and CrossOver. On that last one, I'm probably biased.

What's missing is an obviously superior group calendaring solution. Many choices exist, but none of them have emerged as the clear winner. The Sunbird stuff from Mozilla looks promising, and Chandler is intriguing, but neither of those is in shipping format yet. "

Personaly I don't think CrossOver or Cedega are at all needed. I've been using linux exclusivly for nearly 2 years now. There are enough alternatives to windows based products. Ok, GIMP could be easier to use, but then so could Photoshop. Even at the time that I was still using Windows I prefered OpenOffice over MS Office. Instead of creating software that allows use to use Windows programs under Linux, We should be creating NATIVE linux applications. I'd much rather see a linux version of Macromedia's Flash (not player) then find a way to install Flash using an emulation layer. Jeremy
