French Ministry for Agriculture and Fishing choosing OpenOffice.org
Great news! If I understood this article correctly (please correct me if I'm wrong!), the French Ministry for Agriculture and Fishing chose OpenOffice.org due to the EOL of Microsoft Office 2000. The article also refers to the recent Danish TCO/cost study which mentions the possibility of significant cost savings based on OpenOffice.org.

The French people reading my blog might be able to provide a more detailed summary.

you're almost right. The article says that 120 advisers from that ministry chose OpenOffice, cause MS office was getting obsolete. They chose it because as an open source program it would give government services the opportunity to exchange documents written in open formats. They also speak about low costs of OpenOffice, in compare with the costs of Microsoft Office licenses. They also mention than they could , at low cost get their employees officially formed at OpenOffice.org. Last but not least they say the whole thing must still be signed, and probably will be, by their general secretary.
