Just switch! - Better PDF files with StarOffice 8
Today I want to talk about another reason why people should "Just switch!" to StarOffice 8 once it turns from beta to final. StarOffice 7 introduced a very cool feature that many people love, the one-click PDF export. With StarOffice 7 it is possible to create simple PDF files from the StarOffice applications without having to install any additional software. However, the PDF export in StarOffice 7 was very new and had some limitations.

StarOffice 8 improves the PDF export capabilities a lot. For example is it now possible to define the compression level of embedded images, so that the user can define the quality of the PDF file.

What is also new in StarOffice 8 is the support for:
● Hyperlinks
● Table of contents
● Document outline (for easy document navigation)
● Document notes
● PDF controls
● Tagged PDF (for Writer only)

With StarOffice 8 users should only very rarely see the need to use additional software for the creation of PDF files. In my next blog I will explain the new DataPilot features (the DataPilot is very similar to Microsoft Excel's PivotTable feature).
