Just switch! - Naming Cells in StarOffice 8
With StarOffice 8 it is very easy to assign names to spreadsheet fields, so that the field names can be used in formulas. In my simple example here I just want to use the constant pi. Thus, I type in some digits of pi and add the simplest possible formula to a different cell, i.e. "=PI".
After hitting the ENTER key StarOffice Calc cannot resolve the constant PI and thus shows an error.
Now we have to select the field with the pi constant again and place the cursor in the Name Box above the current sheet.
This is the "Name Box":
In the box we just type "PI" and hit Enter. Now the simple fomula can be resolved and the value for pi appears.
