"Louis Suarez-Potts responds on IBM and OpenOffice.org"
"But, I’m serious when I say that I’d love for IBM to work with us; and we’ll do what we can do encourage that. It’s not just hating IBM at all. From where I sit, they do fine work, I just wish it were also publicly on OOo."

In my opinion, the only likely way to get significant multi-corporate involvement in OO.org (beyond Sun & Novell) would be to split off OO.org into an independent corporation/foundation that holds the copyright. Sun could hold a major representation in the foundation and maintain their current development payroll, but IBM, HP, Red Hat, etc. could have a stake, also. It just seems that there are egos in the industry that are too big to work together nicely, so an independent entity might diffuse some of the tension.
