Netbeans – Now Ruby-ized!


In the week of March 5th, Sun announced the support of Ruby in its award-winning development tools, Netbeans.

In support of its JRuby project, which brings the Ruby language into the Java Virtual Machine, Sun Microsystems says that it would be bringing Ruby development capabilities into its NetBeans IDE.

The announcement was accompanied by a prerelease of the NetBeans Ruby Pack. The software brings Ruby syntax highlighting, code completion and extensive Ruby documentation to the IDE. The NetBeans Ruby Pack is available at NetBeans.org and is a free supplement to NetBeans 5.5.

"Ruby on Rails", is one of the buzz words these days. There has been some really interesting developments going on with Ruby. For example, the series of web applications, released by 37signals, especially its project management tool, Basecamp has received a very good reputation among industry users.

In conclusion, Sun has once again proved that NetBeans is a more advanced IDE than Eclipse by bring Ruby development on board.
