Pursuing my passion of reading I was scanning through a great book, "Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason", I came across the shortest Science Fiction novel by Anonymous. In it's entirety it reads... "The last man on earth sat in a room. There was a knock on the door." I just have to say "WOW!" this is a great piece of fiction. Simple, evocative, and has you wanting more. Anybody know of similarly terse novels of any genre?

When I was a lot younger (<10!) I read a short story which started this way. The knock was from an alien... and of course aliens had taken over the planet, so the last man called them all "George." I think this was in "X minus One" and an episode called "Knock"
