Solaris 10 11/06 (aka Update 3) now available for free download!

The latest production cut of Solaris 10 is now available for free download, here.

This update incorporates a whole bunch of interesting new features:

  • Trusted Extensions (read more in Glenn Faden's blog)
  • Trusted JDS, as well as Trusted CDE, for use with the above (read more in Stephen Browne's blog)
  • Secure By Default (read more in Scott Rotondo's blog)
  • Logical Domains (read more in Eric Sharakan's blog)
  • Finessings to Zones; container pooling, moving, privilege set modification (see Glenn Brunette's worked example here)
  • Finessings to ZFS; RAIDZ2 (aka "double RAID parity, allowing for 2 device failures"), clone promotion, hot spare support, temporary device offlining, FMA integration...
Go download it, and put this stuff through its paces! :-).
