WGA server outage: "I told you so"

Every now and again, something I predict, comes to pass.

While the consequences aren't as dire as I thought, way back when (in that machines aren't shutting down), I wouldn't expect any third-party software house to write anything which uses DirectX, ever again, in case the situation is repeated.

(Outage news via Geoff.)

Update:

Actually, it is as dire as I thought. See here. Microsoft just "upgraded" Vista to introduce "the Black Screen of Death", so successful attacks against WGA servers now will perpetrate a worldwide Vista outage.

Silly boys.
